Screw Down Crowns: Many Invicta watches are equipped with a screw down crown to help prevent water infiltration. This is most common on our Diver models. In order to adjust the date and/or time on such a watch, you must first unscrew the crown before you can gently pull it out to its first or second click stop position. To do this, simply rotate the crown counterclockwise until it springs open. When you have finished setting the watch, the crown must then be pushed in and screwed back in tightly. Not doing so will cancel the water resistance of the watch and will void all warranties from the manufacturer. Overall, this process should not require a lot of effort or force.

Automatic Watches

Automatic watches donot operate on batteries. Automatic watches are made up of about 130 or more parts that work together to tell time. Automatic movements mark the passage of time by a series of gear mechanisms, and are wound by the movement of your wrist as you wear it. The gear train then transmits the power to the escapement, which distributes the impulses, turning the balance wheel. The balance wheel is the time regulating organ of a mechanical watch, which vibrates on a spiral hairspring. Lengthening or shortening the balance spring makes the balance wheel go faster or slower to advance or retard the watch. The travel of the balance wheel from one extreme to the other and back again is called oscillation. Lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are Swiss-made, Japanese-made, and more.

Also referred to as self-winding, watches with automatic movements utilize kinetic energy, the swinging of your arm, to provide energy to an oscillating rotor to keep the watch ticking. They're considered more satisfying to watch collectors (horologists) because of the engineering artistry that goes into the hundreds of parts that make up the movement. If you do not wear an automatic watch consistently (for about 8 to 12 hours a day), you can keep the watch powered with a watch winder (a great gift for collectors).

Like the original Nemo, the Nemo MCX retains its ultra modern and urbane design, utilizing an octagonal-shaped case to give it that submarine look and feel. The satin-brushed bezel affixed to the case is reminiscent to the portholes of luxury ships and other sea-faring vessels. The Brevet’s name was inspired by a famous bicycle race, because of its amazing sub-dial design; it is also the newest member to speed into the Sportsman’s Collection. Circles within circles, the round case design on this sporty timepiece’s look as a whole brings forth visions of turning wheels from case to face. Just inside the tachymeter chapter ring is a concentric circle design reminiscent to that of a lined track, and atop it are the individually applied baton style indices and Arabic numerals for 12 and 6. The sub-dials located at 0 and 3 o’clock indicate the 60 minute counter and 24 hour counter; the Citizen OS 21 chronograph movement, the heart of the Brevet, utilizes rotating gear-shaped discs that ultimately gave this timepiece its name. Sweeping across the dial at 6 o’clock is the date aperture with a clear box on tinted acrylic. And of course, we’ve included semi-skeletonized hands with Luminova fill for easy read in the dark. Another remarkable detail on the Brevet is its strap. Made from high quality silicon rubber, the dimpled strap is perfectly integrated, giving it a seamless look and feel. As with any sport watch, the Brevet was built to be rugged and tough to withstand the rigors of competition; the case was blanked from solid bars of 316L surgical grade stainless steel, and the movement and case is protected by a scratch-resistant Krysterna crystal.

The Concorso, from the Stührling Original’s Sportsmans series, comes incased in a polished 316L surgical grade stainless steel case with a beveled bezel, its finishing touch. The genuine carbon fiber dial features a date window at the 3 o’clock position. Large Arabic numerals are placed at the 6 and 12 o’clock positions with arrow pointers applied at all other positions. All hour markers and hour and minute hands have been treated with Super Luminova™. Seconds markers are printed on the perimeter of the main dial pointed out by a sweep center second hand that boasts a color coded arrow head. Just beyond the main dial is the outer track chapter ring trimmed with gauge-like minute and second markers complementing the overall theme of the Concorso. On the flip side of the Stührling Concorso is a screwed-in exhibition case back that has been decorated with a checkered flag design akin to the carbon fiber weave on the face. The movement has been embellished with Pearlage and Cotes de Geneva treatments on the pillar plates and a Damier finish and Stührling signature on the rotor. Both the front and back are protected with a Krysterna™ Crystal which features a date magnifier on the front. The final accoutrement to the Concorso is the genuine leather strap with checkerboard embossing and contrast stitching. The strap closes securely on your wrist with a push button deployment clasp giving it the perfect finishing touch.
